PAS 68:2005 pdf download Specification for vehicle security barriers
Scope
This Publicly Available Specification (PAS) specifies a classificationsystem for the performance of vehicle security barriers and theirsupporting foundations when subjected to a single horizontal impactIn the course of this document three alternative assessment methods otdetermining the performance classification of vehicle security barriersare given:
the vehicle impact method;
the pendulum method (only suitable for testing bollards at lower
energy levels);
the design method.

Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this PAS the following terms and definitions apply.3.1ballast
weight securely fixed to the vehicle
3.2cargoweight representing a dummy (anthropomorphic) if requested, andloose material which is in increments of not more than 25 kg, which isnot securely fixed to the vehicle, including fluids, but only where thevehicle is designed to carry such fluids
3.3
fixed bollardfixed vertical post permanently embedded into specified foundationsdesigned to prevent vehicle access
3.4impact angleangle, in the horizontal plane, between the intended impact face andtheapproach path of the test vehicle into the test item
3.5impact pointinitial point of contact between the test vehicle or pendulum impactorand the test item
3.6vehicle impact test speedspeed of the test vehicle measured along its approach path at a point nofurther than 8 m before the impact point
3.7pendulum test speedspeed of the impactor at the moment of impact
3,8
unladen weightweight of test vehicle, with standard equipment, quantities of engine oiland coolant, and minimum amount of engine fuel required
3.9major debrisany single item totally detached from the test vehicle, its ballast, cargoor the vehicle security barrier having a weight of more than 25 kg, as aconsequence of the impact and projected beyond the original positionof the back face of test item
NOTE Marimum dispersion will be included within test reports to assistin the choice afan appropriate sistemi.
3.10removable bollardvertical post designed to prevent wehicle access, mounted in afoundation such that it can be secured in position but easily removed
3.11rising bollardvertical post designed to prevent vehicle access mounted in afoundation such that it can rise to its operational height and be loweredto its minimum height
3.12rigid test foundationfoundation designed so that it will not move laterally by morethan 10 mm, nor rotate by more than 5° from the pre-test position
3.13test systemvehicle security barrier, the operating equipment required for the testand specified foundations
3.14test vehiclecommercially available vehicle with an unmodified chassis, load bed andfrontal structure used in an impact test to evaluate the performance ofa vehicle security barrier
