IEEE 802.1Qav-2009 pdf download IEEE Standard for Local and metropolitan area networks— Virtual Bridged Local Area Networks Amendment 12: Forwarding and Queuing Enhancements for Time-Sensitive Streams
3. Definitions
Insert the following text immediately after the first paragraph of Clause 3:
This standard makes use of the following terms defined in IEEE Std 802.
end station
station
Insert the following definitions into Clause 3, in alphabetical order, renumbering existing defi-nitions as needed:
3.1 audio video (AV) traffic: Traffic associated with audio and/or video applications that is sensitive totransmission latency and latency variation, and, for some applications, packet loss.
3.2 latency: The delay experienced by a frame in the course of its propagation between two points in anetwork, measured from the time that a known reference point in the frame passes the first point to the timethat the reference point in the frame passes the second point.
NOTE 1–Latency is sometimes referred to as frame delay.
NOTE 2–The term frame is used in this standard to refer to a data frame, and not to a video frame.
3.3 stream reservation (SR) class: A traffic class whose bandwidth can be reserved for AV trafic. Apriority value is associated with each SR class. SR classes are denoted by consecutive letters of the alphabet.starting with A and continuing for up to seven classes.
3.4 Stream Reservation Protocol (SRP) domain boundary port: A Port ofa station that is a member ofanSRP domain for a given SR class, and that is connected via an individual LAN to a Port of a station that iseither within a different SRP domain for that SR class, or is not part of any SRP domain.
NOTE_The term SRP domain is defined in 6.6.4.
3.5 Stream Reservation Protocol (SRP) domain core port: A Port of a station that is a member of an SRpdomain for a given SR class, and that is connected, via an individual LAN that is part of the active topologyto a Port of a station that is a member of the same SRP domain for that SR class.
NOTE–The term SRP domain is defined in 6.6.4.
3.6 time-sensitive stream: A stream of data frames that are required to be delivered with a bounded latency
