2 IEC type designation
Connectors, connector bodies and connectors with pre-inserted contacts according to this standard shall be designated by the following system (see IEC 61076).
2.1Terminology
The terminology used in and applicable to this specification is stated in 2.1 of IEC 61076-1Some applicable terms are also covered in IEC 60512-1.
2.2Marking
Each connector and/or its associated package shall be marked in accordance with therequirements specified in 2.6 ofIEC 61076-1.
2.3 Main functionsThese connectors are compatible with lEC 60603-7-7 series connectors insofar as describedin 2.5.
The lEC 60603-7-7 fixed connector switch is actuated by a protrusion added onto the end of astandard shaped IEC 60603-7 series free connector (type C) (plug). An IEC 61076-3-110 freeconnector includes a similar protrusion.
The lEC 61076-3-110 free connector includes two protrusions added onto each side of astandard shaped IEC 60603-7 series free connector (type C) (plug). (An IEC 60603-7-7 freeconnector includes similar movable protrusions, which function as free connector switchactuators.
2.4Interchangeability
These connectors are intermateable, interoperable with all IEC 60603-7-7 connectors
The original 4 pairs of contacts and the shield contacts specified for lower level IEC 60603-7series connectors are given for reference and their specifications given in this standardconform to the specifications for IEC 60603-7 series connectors.
2.4.1Intermateability
Intermateability with other lEC 60603-7 series connectors is ensured herein by applying thesame”GO” and “NO-GO”, free and fixed connector gauge requirements as specified for allowerlevelIEC 60603-7 series connectors.
2.4.2Interoperability
2.4.2.1General
interoperability ensures that the resulting mated connection of any connector from any sourceand complying with IEC 60603-7-7 with another such connector shall comply with themechanical, electrical and transmission requirements of IEC 60603-7-7.
2.4.2.2Requirements
Specific interoperability requirements and test procedures for applications up to 600 MHz aregiven herein.
