EN 957-5-2009 pdf download.Stationary training equipment – Part 5: Stationary exercise bicycles and upper body crank training equipment, additional specific safety requirements and test methods.
All other clamping mechanisms shall be tightened as described in the users manual. For both adjustable and fixed front handlebars, load the handlebars with a (80 ± 5) mm wide band or sleeve. Apply the test load as described in 5.5.2 on the left or the right side in a direction which creates the highest torque moment applied to the clamp or fix point. Apply a pre load of 10 % of the test load for I mm and measure the position (angle) of the handlebar. Then apply the test load for (3± 1) mm. After the release of the test load, measure the deformation whilst under pie load.
For seat handlebars, apply 50 % of the test load as described in 5.5.2 simultaneously to each handle in the downward direction. Load the handlebars with a (80 ± 5) mm wide band or sleeve. Apply a pre load of 10 % of the test load for 1 mm and measure the position (angle) of the handlebar. Then apply the test load for (3 ± 1) mm. After the release of the test load, measure the deformation whilst under pre load.
6.7 Testing of seat back rest
Fix the machine to prevent tilting and/or slipping.
Apply using a (300 ± 5) mm x (300 ± 5) mm plate a pre load of 10 % of the load described in 5.8.2, horizontally, at 1 =(500 ± 25) mm from the upper seat level or 50 mm below the upper end of the backrest if smaller (see Figure 4). Set the vertical of the centre of the plate to zero. Then apply the test load for 3 mm. Release the load up to the pie load level. Measure the permanent deformation at the back side of the seat at the same height of the force application.
Cool down the training equipment to room temperature.
Then perform the above procedure with the following values:
— (100±5)Wat(50±1)rpm:
— (150±7,5)Wat(60±1)ipm:
— (200± 10)W at (60± 1)rpm;
a non tested free chosen value in the range of 50 W ana 200 W at the speed between SO rpm and 90rpm.
Determine whether the tolerance between the input and the reading on the display of the training equipment (output) is in all cases in the tolerance according to 5.9, Table 1.
6.12.2 Accuracy display testing for classes SA and IA
After having done the test in accordance with 6.12.1 perform the procedure in 6.12.1 with the following values:
— (300±15)Wat(70±1)rpm;
-— (400 ± 20) W at (70 ± 1) rpm or at maximum power.
Determine whether the tolerance between the input and the reading on the display of the training equipment
(output) is in all cases in the tolerance according to 5.9, Table 1.
6.13 Endurance test
6.13.1 Adjustable training equipment
Subject the training equipment to an interval test (10 mm loading. 5 mm cooling down) for at least 2 h at the closest step to 80 % of the maximum power at (60 ± 1) rpm.
After the test check that the training equipment functions correctly.
6.13.2 Non adjustable training equipment
Subject the training equipment to an interval test (10 mm loading. 5 mm cooling down) for mm. 2 h at (100± 1)rpm.
After the test check that the training equipment functions correctly.
6.14 Testing of power repeatability for class B
6.14.1 Testing of power repeatability for class HB
Use a device as In Figure 5 for measuring and setting speed and torque or speed and power.
1) Pedal the training equipment for at least 2 h at approx. (100± 5)W at (60 ± 1) rpm. After conditioning cool down the training equipment to room temperature;
2) Set the load adjustment system of the training equipment to the position so that the power is dosest to 70 W when pedalled at (60 ± 1) rpm:
3) Measure the power within 30 s;
4) Set the load adjustment system of the training equipment to the position so that the power is dosest to 200W when pedalled at (70± 1) rpm;
5) Pedal the training equipment for at least 15 mm;
6) Return to the same measurement position as in point 2);
7) Measure again the power within 30 s,
Compare the values measured in 3) and 7). The value in 7) shall not vary by more than ± 25 % of value In 3).
6.14.2 Testing of power repeatability for class SB
6.14.2.1 Adjustable training equipment
After having done the test in accordance with 6.141 perform the procedure in 6.14.1 with the following value:
— (400±20)Wat(70±1)rpm).
Determine whether the limit variations are not more than 25 %.
6.14.2.2 Non adjustable training equipment
Subject the training equipment to an interval test fix at least 2 h at(100 x I,, rpm.
After the test, check that the training equipment functions correctly.EN 957-5-2009 pdf download.
