EN 15655-2-2020 pdf download.Ductile iron pipes, fittings and accessories – Requirements and test methods for organic linings of ductile iron pipes and fittings – Part 2: Thermoplastic Acid Modified Polyolefin (TMPO) lining of pipes.
— uniform appearance and smoothness except for admissible repairs;
— free of visible defects (pinholes, bubbles, blisters, wrinkles, cracks or voids).
Slight superficial variations of colour or brilliance due to repairs or prolonged exposure to sunlight or contact with other pipes are permissible.
5.2.2 Minimum lining thickness
When measured in accordance with the method defined in 71.4. except on designated zones, the localized minimum thickness shall be greater than 300 pm and the minimum average thickness shall be equal to or greater than 350 pm. For designated zones (see 3J.2), localized minimum thickness of 200 pm is permissible.
5.3 Non-porosity
When tested in accordance with the test method described in L.Lb with a voltage of 1 500 Vi the lined body of the component shall be free from porosity i.e. no electrical puncture shall occur. For potable water applications only, one electrical puncture per square meter is accepted.
In designated zones, electrical punctures are permitted.
Test frequency, see IabkA.Z.
NOTE Small oxide skin dust surface inclusions can generate electrical puncture by crossing the lining.
These inclusions are generally isolated in a sound lining. These kind Inclusions will not be source of corrosion.
By statistical analysis of the occurring electrical punctures, the manufacturer demonstrates the puncture is
associated to skin inclusions.
5.4 Pipe ends
Spigot end and internal socket profile (see Ei,gwzJ.) should be coated with one of the following:
— TMPO in accordance with this document;
— epoxy lining in accordance with EN 14901-1
— zinc or zinc alloy with finishing layer according to EN 545. EN 598 and EN 969. whichever standard is applicable;
— zinc-rich paint and epoxy.
NOTE Pipe ends are usually specified as designated zones.
The manufacturer shall ensure that the joint can be assembled and the lining complies with the intended field of use. The lining thickness shall be checked according to 7.1.5.
5.5 Repairs
The repair shall be checked according to 2LL.
In case of holidays or damage, repairs shall be carried out in accordance with the manufacturer’s written instructions. Repairs shall fulfill the technical requirements of this document.
Fresh surfaces of pipes cut on site shall be protected by appropriate coating material according to the manufacturer’s written instructions.
5.6 Marking
All pipes shall be marked legibly and durably according to the pipe standard EN.545, EtL59B or EN.99.
Reference to this standard shall be legibly and durably applied by any method upon the external surface. This shall be checked according to LIZ.
5.7 Adhesion
Adhesion shall be tested in accordance with the test method described in uS on production samples. The TMPO lining adhesion shall achieve an average value of at least 8 MPa and a minimum single value of 6 MPa.
Test frequency, see TahleA2.
6 Performance requirements
6.1 Chemical resistance
The chemical resistance is determined by thechange in weight of the TMPO lining in neutral, alkaline and acid conditions. When tested in accordance with 222 the weight increase shall meet the requirements.
6.5 Abrasion resistance (only for waste water application)
When tested in accordance with ZZ.6. the pipes shall not have an abrasion depth greater than 0,2 mm after 100 000 movements (50 000 cycles).
6.6 Materials in contact with water intended for human consumption
When used under the conditions for which they are designed, in permanent or in temporary contact with water intended for human consumption, the TMPO lining applied on ductile iron pipes shall not change the quality of that water to such an extent that it fails to comply with the requirements of national regulations.
For this purpose, reference shall be made to the relevant national regulations and standards, transposing EN standards when available, dealing with the influence of materials on water quality and to the requirements for external systems and components as given in EN.aOS.
NOTE A guidance on existing national regulations is given in CNJIR.1ö95Q.
7 Test methods
7.1 Routine tests
7.1.1 General
The following routine tests shall be carried out to control the lining production process in order to obtain a stable lining of high quality.
Information on quality assurance is given in Annex A.
7.1.2 Surface preparation
The surface of the component shall be checked according to EN ISO 8501-1.
The manufacturer shall specify the preparation grade (see LI).
7.1.3 Appearance and continuity
The appearance of the finished lining shall he checked according to ENiSO 4628.EN 15655-2-2020 pdf download.
