BS/EN 6098-2019 pdf download.Aerospace series – Rod-end with bearing per EN 6097 in corrosion resisting steel, extra wide inner ring, external threaded shank- Dimensions and loads – Inch series.
This BS/EN 6098 specifies the characteristics of adjustable rod ends consisting of:
— a spherical plain bearing, metal to metal, in corrosion resisting steel, extra wide series (EN 6097);
— a rod-end with threaded shank with an optional longitudinal groove for locking purposes.
They are intended for use in fixed or moving parts of the aircraft structure and their control
mechanisms.

4 Requirements
4.1 Configuration, dimensions, tolerances and mass
Configuration, dimensions, tolerances and mass shall be according to Figure 1 and Table 1 and Table 2.
Table 1: Dimensions and tolerances are expressed in millimetres (inches).
Figure 1: Dimensions and tolerances for Ra max. are expressed in pm (itin).
4.5 Materials
Inner ring: See product standard EN 6097.
Outer ring: See product standard EN 6097.
Rod-end body: See AMS 5643, hardness 35 ≤ HRC ≤ 42.
4.6 Surface treatment
Rod-end body:
code T: passivated according to ISO 8074;
— code P: cadmium plating and chromating according to EN 2133. 10 pm to 20 tm (400 iin to 800 pin);
— exception: threads. S pm to 15 pm (200 pin to 600 pin);
— bearing: see EN 6097. code T.
4.9 Temperature range and lubricant
They shall be used in the temperature range as determined by the grease capability see below.
As they are lubricated by means of the following greases:
— code A: grease as per MIL-PRF-23827 type 1, operating temperature range —73 °C to 121 °C; code B: grease as per MIL-PRF-81322. operating temperature range —54°C to 177 °C.
In both cases the spherical surface of the outer or inner ring, have to be provided with a dry-film lubricant as per MIL-PRF-46010 or equivalent (anti-seizing protection).BS/EN 6098-2019 pdf download.
