BS/EN 1709-2019 pdf download.Safety requirements for cableway installations designed to transport persons – Precommissioning inspection and instructions for maintenance and operational inspection and checks.
c) timber structures for signs of rot, wood pests, gaps in glued joints and loose joint seating;
d) foundations for settlement, displacement and tilting and faulty drainage, and for the damage listed under a) in the case of concrete foundations;
e) anchor bolts for damage to their corrosion protection, loose nuts and deformation;
1) ground anchors for damage to their corrosion protection and, if necessary, changes to the indicated prestressing forces;
g) the substructure of funicular railways for faults which could affect the operating safety of the carriers, such as settlement, landslides and water leakage.
The terrain in the vicinity of the cableway shall undergo a visual inspection for any obvious defects which could affect the load capacity or serviceability of the civil engineering works, such as settlement, landslides and water leakage.
6.3.5.3 MechanIcal equipment
A visual inspection and functional testing of the following must be carried out:
a) all drive systems (main drive, as well as any auxiliary drive, emergency drive, or recovery drive) including running under the most unfavourable operational loading conditions;
b) visual inspection and functional testing of the brakes for the drive systems whilst taking into consideration all stop commands and types of drive system by measuring the stopping distances and/or times, including whilst running under the most unfavourable operational loading conditions. In the case of ski-tows, this inspection shall be carried out on an unloaded installation;
c) visual inspection and functional testing of the tensioning devices;
d) of the cable supports and guides, such as rollers, roller batteries, sheaves, cable shoes, roller chains, drums for winch drives, cable re-engagement devices and the superstructure of funicular railways, as well as the movement of the roller batteries when the cable is lifted;
e) of the mechanical station equipment, such as the tracks, coupling areas, acceleration/deceleration and equipment for moving carriers in the stations, equipment for maintaining the carrier pitch. loading bands, equipment for closing and opening carriers, carrier guides, equipment for parking the carriers;
1) vIsual inspection and functional checks of the equipment used for the protection of workers.
6.3.5.4 Carriers and tow-hangers
a) visual inspection of all carrier or tow-hanger components;
b) visual inspection of the grips in uni-directional aerial cableways and ski-tows with the grips dismantled into component parts and functional inspection of the grips once they are reassembled. These inspections shall be carried out on at least 5 % — and at least 2 – of the grips annually. Every grip shall be checked at least once every 5 years or every 10,000 operating hours;
c) checking that at least 10 % of the grips of uni-directional aerial cableways and reversible aerial cableways achieve the minimum required resistance to slipping by means of slipping resistance tests. Every grip shall be checked at least once every 10 years;
d) measurement of the gripping force of all gravity-operated grips;
e) functional testing of the carrier doors, movable hoods and safety bars, the closing and locking devices for these components or the spring boxes;
1) inspection of carrier load measurement and passenger counting devices;
g) testing of the automatic triggering of the on-board brakes by a slack rope condition with the installation stationary, including measurement of the remaining rope tension at the time the on- board brake is triggered as well as the slipping resistance of the on-board brake.
6.3.5.5 Electrical installations
The applicable national regulations shall be taken into consideration when testing the electrical installations (e.g. medium- and low-voltage installations, earthing devices and lightning protection devices).
a) inspection of the overall condition, functional testing of all electrical devices and installations;
b) inspection of the excess current, excess voltage. earthing and lightning protection devices.
6.3.5.6 Safety functions and devices as well as signalling devices.BS/EN 1709-2019 pdf download.
