ASTM F876-23 pdf free download – Standard Specification For Crosslinked Polyethylene (PEX).

The present specification pertains to crosslinked polyethylene (PEX) piping that may include an optional polymer layer on the inner, middle, or outer surface, with a controlled outer diameter. It is manufactured to nominal SDR9 tubing size ratios, unless otherwise specified, and is pressure-rated for water at three different temperatures, as outlined in Appendix X1. It encompasses the necessary requirements and testing procedures for materials, workmanship, dimensions, burst pressure, hydrostatic sustained pressure, high-temperature and pressure resistance, environmental stress cracking, stabilizer performance, bent-tube hydrostatic pressure, oxidative stability in chlorinated potable water, UV resistance, and the degree of crosslinking. Additionally, it specifies the marking requirements for the tubing. The components detailed in this specification are intended for use in, but not limited to, residential and commercial applications, including hot and cold potable water distribution systems, reclaimed water systems, fire protection systems, municipal water service lines, building supply lines, radiant heating and cooling systems, hydronic distribution systems, snow and ice melting systems, geothermal ground loops, district heating systems, turf conditioning, compressed air distribution, and building services piping, as long as the PEX tubing meets the relevant code requirements.

The specification includes references to notes, footnotes, and appendices that provide clarifying information. These notes and footnotes, except those within tables and figures, are not to be interpreted as mandatory requirements of the specification.

The values provided in either the SI units or inch-pound units are to be considered separately as the standard. The values in each system are not always precise equivalents, so to adhere to the standard, each system should be used independently. The values in parentheses are conversions that may not be exact and are provided for informational purposes only.
