These test methods give detailed procedures for the measurement of wet cornering traction of tires designed for passenger cars or light trucks. The testing may be conducted with specially designed test vehicles (trailers, dynamometer trucks) or tegular highway vehicles outfitted with adde instrumentation. Tests with and without driving torque are described.
4. Summary of Test Methods
4.1 These test methods are divided into two general types of tests designated as either Test Method A or Test Method B. Test Method B, in turn, is divided into three procedures A, B, and C.
4.2.1 In Test Method A, wet cornering traction is measured by means of a special instrumented test vehicle(SIV).This SIV may be a test trailer(and its tow truck) with the necessary instrumentation to measure actual cornering or lateral forces or it may be a large truck with one or more tire text fixtures mounted at the front or rear, instrumented to measure these same cornering or lateral forces.
