ASME Y14.40.1:2002 pdf download GRAPHICAL SYMBOLS FOR DIAGRAMS, PART 1: GENERAL INFORMATION AND INDEXES
SCOPE
This Standard serves as an introduction to all the otherparts. In particular, it gives information on the creationand use of registration numbers for identifying graphicalsymbols used in diagrams, rules for the presentationand application of these symbols, and examples of theiluse and application. It includes two indexes: an alphabetic index and an index of reeistration numbers, bothconcerned uniquely with ASME Y14.402 to ASMFY14.40.12, and an index of cross-references to relateditems found in other International Standards.
For the fundamental rules of creation and applicationof graphical symbols in diagrams, see ASME Y14.40.0.

ARRANGEMENT OF THE ASME Y14.40 SERIESOF STANDARDS
4.1 Domains of Application
The ASME Y14.4) series of standards consists of anumber of separate standards (parts) covering graphicalsymbols for use in most technical fields.
4.2 Subdivision of Parts
Each Standard in this series is divided into sectionsthat each deal with graphical symbols for a particulargroup of generic products or functions. When appropriate, paragraphs are given subparagraphs, as followsusing the example of para. 7 from IS0 14617-2:
