1 PRODUCT MARKING AND IDENTIFICATION
1.1 Rated Capacity
All PALDs shall have the rated capacity marked in aprominent location on the PALD by casting imprintmetal stamp,or use of durable materials and attachmentmethods.
1.2 Identification
Each PALD shall include identification or identifyingmarks of the original manufacturer or supplier by casting imprint, metal stamp, or use of durable materialsand attachment methods. The manufacturer or suppliershould be able to identify the date of manufacture ofeach PALD
1.3 Safety Markings
Each PALD shall include safety signs and/or labelsdeveloped by the manufacturer or supplier. The signsand/or labels shall be affixed by use of durable materialsand attachment methods to each PALD in a locationvisible to the operator, The ANSI Z535 series of standards containing guidelines for product safety signsshall be followed.
Examples of safety markings for specific types ofPALDs are shown in para.3.1 of each Part of thisStandard

21 Product Instructions
Each PALD shall be provided with operator’s instructionsTheinstructions shall specify the proper operatingprocedures and basic function of the components. Theinstructions shall contain the recommended replacementfluid, maintenance, and inspection procedures and intervals, as applicable. Copy conveying the intent of para.3 shall be included with the instructions.
2.2 Safety Messages
The instructions should convey the safety markingsand messages shown in para, 3 of the applicable Partof this Standard, but need not be verbatim or limitedto those listed.
OPERATION,MAINTENANCE、AND INSPECTION
3.1 Owner and/or Operator Responsibility
The owner and/or operator shall study the productinstructions and retain them for future reference.
3.1.1 Operation.The owner and/or operator shallhave an understanding of the product and safetyoperating instructions before operating the PALDSafety information shall be emphasized and understoodIf the operator is not fluent in English, the product andsafety instructions shall be read to and discussed withthe operator in the operator’s native language by thepurchaser/owner or his designee, making sure that theoperator comprehends their contents.
3.1.2 Maintenance. The PALD shall be maintained inaccordance with the product instructions.
3.1.3 Inspection
(a) Visual inspection shall be made before each useof the PALD by checking for abnormal conditions, suchas cracked welds, leaks, and damaged, loose, or missing parts.
(b) Other inspections shall be made per productoperating instructions.
(c) Each PALD shall be inspected immediately if thelift is believed to have been subjected to an abnormalload or shock, It is recommended that this inspectionbe made by a manufacturer’s or supplier’s authorizedrepair facility.
(d) Owners and/or operators should be aware thatrepair of this equipment may require specialized knowledge and facilities. It is recommended that an annualinspection of the PALD be made by a manufacturer’or supplier’s authorized repair facility and that anydefective parts, decals, or safety labels or signs bereplaced with manufacturer’s or supplier’s specifiedparts. A list of authorized repair facilities is availablefrom the manufacturer or supplier
3.14 Damaged Equipment. Any PALD that appearsto be damaged in any way is found to be worn, oroperates abnormally SHALL BE REMOVED FROM
