ASME NUM-1:2004 pdf download Rules for Construction of Cranes, Monorails, and Hoists (With Bridge or Trolley or Hoist of the Underhung Type)
NUM-G-2100 GENERAL
The owner shall specifyenvironmental conditionsfor operation and storage.This equipment shall bedesigned to withstand the effects of the conditionsspecified herein. Where the ability of the equipmentto withstand the effects is unknown. or limited, themanufacturer shall specify such limitations and theirbasis,for acceptance by the owner,prior to order.
NUM-G-2200 RADIATION
(a) The owner shall specify the accumulated radiationdosage expected to be seen by the crane, hoist, ormonorail. over the life of the nuclear facility.
(b) Components whose normal life could be reducedby the effects of the specified radiation shall be tabulatedand submitted to the owner.
(c) Components of equipment whose failure due tospecified radiation could result in loss of load shalleither be designed to withstand the specified radiationor shall have a specific replacement period. Wherestate of the art is such that sufficient data is notavailable,periodic inspections shall be made by theowner to determine when replacement should be madeThe inspection requirements and their bases are to bespecified by the manufacturer and provided to theowner.
NUM-G-2300 TEMPERATURE
(a) The owner shall specify the following temperaturerequirements in the area where the crane. hoist, ormonorail operates:
(1) maximum operating temperature:
(2) minimum operating temperature;
(3) ambient temperature for motors;
(4) maximum construction temperature: and
(5) minimum construction temperature.(b) The crane,hoist. or monorail shall be designedto withstand the effects of the specified temperatures.or the limitation of the equipment’s design concerningthese temperature conditions shall be specified by the manufacturer.The inspection requirements and theirbases are to be specified by the manufacturer andprovided to the owner.
NUM-G-2400 PRESSURE
(a) The owner shall specify the following pressurerequirements in the area where the crane, hoist, ormonorail operates:
(1) normal operating pressure; and
(2) any test or abnormal event pressures includingthe rate of change of pressures.
(b) The crane, hoist, or monorail shall be designedto withstand the effects of the specified pressures, orthe limitations of the equipment’s design concerningthese pressure conditions shall be specified by themanufacturer. Specifically where there are changes inpressureenclosures shall be vented.The inspectionrequirements and their bases are to be specified by themanufacturer and provided to the owner.
NUM-G-2500 HUMIDITY
(a) The owner shall specify the humidity conditionsin the area where the crane, hoist, or monorail operates(b) Either the crane. hoist, or monorail shall bedesigned to withstand the effects of the specified humid-ity, or the limitations of the equipment’s design concern-ing the humidity condition shall be specified by themanufacturer.The inspection requirements and theirbases are to be specified by the manufacturer andprovided to the owner
