1 SCOPE
(a) Primary.This Standard covers the practice offunctional gages for checking the safe locking inter-changeability of ball-lock punches, light duty metric.(b) Secondary. To easily check radial alignment ofstandard and special punches that have a flat parallelor perpendicular to the ball seat.
2 NOMENCLATURE
2.1 Punch Gage
gage body – A block with an aperture to receive thepart to be checked
ball plunger A part of the gage which has a ballwhich will locate in the detent in the part, therebypositioning it in the gage bodygage checkmaster – A master for checking the accuracy of the gage and limiting the wear allowable
3 GAGE DIMENSIONS
Only certain dimensions on the gages must be heldto close tolerance to insure proper interchangeabilityof the parts being checked. Other dimensions neededfor the manufacture of the gages are optional withthe manufacturer
4.PROPOSED GAGE NUMBER CODES
Number – Punch Shank Diameter 06 through 40metric

MLGC20 = Metric Light Duty Gage Checkmaster,20 mm
