ASME B18.24.3:1998 pdf download PART IDENTIFYING NUMBER(PIN) CODE SYSTEM STANDARD FOR B18 NONTHREADED PRODUCTS
1 INTRODUCTORY NOTES
1.1 Scope
1.1.1 This Standard is intended to provide all users(manufacturers, distributers, design and configuration.parts control, inventory control, test and maintenancefunctions) with the capability to identify nonthreadedfastener products by a preselected order of coding asspecified herein.
1.1.2 The B18 PIN coverage is a self-containedcode with distinct identification linkage to individuaASME BI8 nonthreaded fastener product standards. The PIN code concept provides for direct traceabilityback to the applicable BI8 product standard.
2 GENERALGUIDANCE
2.1
Each individual ASME B18 nonthreaded fastenerproduct Standard provides for optional B18 PIN cover-age under“Designation”or “Ordering”data.
2.2
Alpha “! and “O”are not used in PIN field codeconfiguration.
2.3
The B18 PIN Code shall identify only those character-istics specified in the B18 product standards.
3 PIN ORDER OF CODING BY FIELDS
3.1 Field 1一 Fastener Family forNonthreaded Product
1 Alpha character.
3.2 Field 2 – B18 Standard identification
Four numeric characters and/or with fourth characteras “N” representing last three or four number charactersof B18 Standard designation after “B18”as applicableThe”N”represents a no-entry condition.

3.3 Field 3一 Fastener Type
Two AIpha Characters relating to Field 2, B18 Stan-dard Identification See Matrix A.
3.4 Field 4 — Dimensional/OtherCharacteristics
Six Alpha/Numeric characters: total of six charactersin varied order relating to Field 3, Fastener Type.”N”or“NN”appearing as last character is identified as ano-entries condition. See Matrix B.
