4 REQUIREMENTS
4.1 llustrations
The illustrations hercin arc descriptive and not restrictive, and arc not intended to preclude the manufacture oipliers which are otherwisc in accordance with thisStandard. All figures are shown without comfort grips oisprings.
4.2 Wire Cutting
All types and classes of pliers with cutting edges covered in this Standard shall cut wire as specified in para.5.1.1.
4.3 Paper Cutting
Following the wire cut test in para 5.1.1, all types andclasses of pliers with cutting edges (except Types IV andVil) shall pass paper cuf fest in para. 5.1.2 without anyassistance such as bending, pulling, or twisting.
4.4 Miateriais
The mnaterials used in the manufacture of pliers shallbe such as to produce piiers conforming to the require-ments herein specified.
4.5 Design
Plicrs shall be similar to the figure to which referenceis madc and shall be proportioned in all paris su as to bestrong, durablc,and casy to operate. Requiremments specified here in accordancc with all test specimens shallwithstand applicable test procedure requirements withoutcracking or breaking.
4.6 Handles
4.6.1 Characteristics, Handles of pliers shall be soshaped as to afford a comfortable grip and shal! be freefrom rough edges and sharp corners, Inner handle surfaces shall be well rounded or beveled so as to preventinjury to the hand.
