1.1 Purpose
This specification provides a standard for the manufacture, per-formance, inspection and procurement of a series of spar millingmachines to meet aerospace manufacturing requirements. Thisstandard lists minimum requirements and is not to limit designadvances.
1.2 ClassificationThe machines shall consist of AIA Class IV numerically controlledspar mills with two sizes (widths) of machines available for eachclass, with equipment and accessories herein to be available at theoption of the customer. The machine shall be of the standardgantry type as per this specification equipped with combination of oneor more of the carriages.
