1 .0 SCOPE: This standard provides a method for the packaging of a multiple of items in even rows.

2.1 General Packaging Standard NAS850
3.0 REQUIREMENTS
3.1 General
3.1 .1 Requirements of General Packaging Standard NAS850 are a part of this standard except as noted herein.
3.1 .2 Items susceptible to corrosion shall be protected as required.
3.2 Unit Packaging
3.2.1 The quantity per unit package shall be as follows, unless otherwise specified by the procurement document:
Any number of items – multiples of ten (1 0).
3.2.2 The items, packed tightly in one or more even rows, shall be placed in containers (e.g., fiberboard, set-up, folding, plastic, etc.) sturdy enough to prevent bending or deformation of the items during normal handling. Separating devices may be used within the unit container.
3.2.3 The container shall be designed to permit safe and easy removal of the items enclosed without damaging the container or items. If a multiple layer package is used, the layers shall be adequately separated to prevent damage and be designed to facilitate removal and replacement of each layer without spilling the contents.
3.2.4 Void filler shall be used as required to restrict movement of the items within the container.
3.2.5 Close container by any method which allows opening and reclosing without damage to the container or contents.
3.3 Intermediate Packaging
3.3.1 Intermediate packaging shall be in accordance with applicable requirements of NAS850.
3.4 Packing
3.4.1 Exterior packing shall be in accordance with applicable requirements of NAS850.
3.5 Marking
3.5.1 Unit, intermediate and exterior containers shall be marked in accordance with applicable requirements of NAS850.
4.0 QUALITY ASSURANCE
Packages which do not conform to these requirements are subject to rejection and return to the supplier at his expense.
