REQUIREMENTS
3.1GENERAL
3,1.1Requirements of NAS 850 are a part of this standard except as noted herein.3.2UNIT PACKAGING
3.2.1The quantity per unit package shal1 be as follows unless otherwisespecified by the procurement document:One (1) each
Package each item(s) in a plastic bag. The bag shall be fabricatedof non-corrosive,anti-static plastic film,including laminates,etc., having sufficient conductivity on all surfaces to permit con-trolled bleed-off without production of a spark. The bag materialghall have a maximum surface resistivity of 2 x 10 ohms, when testedin accordance with ASTM D257-66 and a maximum bleed-off of 2 secondsfor 5,000 volts of static electricity, when tested in accordance withMethod 4046 of Federal Test Method Standard 101.
Cushioning or wrapping within the bag, if used, shall have the sameant1-gtatic properties as indicated in Paragraph 3.2.2.
Accomplish unit closure by heat sealing,maintaining minimum airvolume, allowing sufficient material to accommodate at least oneadditional reseal.
INTERMEDIATE PACKAGING
Intermediate packaging shall be in accordance with applicable requirements of NAS 850.3,3,1
3.4 PACKING
Exterior packing shall be in accordance with applicable requfrements of NAS 850.3.4.
3.5 MARKING
3.5.1Unit,intermediate and exterior container shal1 be marked in accordance with applicablerequirements of NAS 850.
3.5.2 Unit package shall be marked with an additional statement essentially similar to one ofthe following:
ANTI-STATIC BAG,GROUND BEFORE AND DURING REMOVAL OF ITEMCONTAINS STATIC-SENSITIVE ITEM,CROUND ANTI-STATIC BAGBEFORE AND DURING REMOVAL OF ITEM
cCONTENTS SUBJECT TO DAMAGE BY STATIC-ELECTRICITY, DONOT OPEN EXCEPT AT APPROVED STATIC-FREE WORK STATION
4.0 QUALITY ASSURANCE
4.1Packages which do not conform to these requirements are subject to rejection and return to thesupplier at his expense.
