3.0 REQUIREMENTS
3.1 General
3.1 .1 Requirements of General Packaging Standard NAS850 are a part of this standard except as noted herein.
3.2 Unit Packaging
3.2.1 The quantity per unit package shall be as follows unless otherwise specified by the procurement document:
One (1 ) each
3.2.2 Assemble or attach loose hardware to each item, or seal in a bag and include with the item.
3.2.3 As necessary, protect item from tarnish and abrasion by wrapping with neutralmaterials. Critical portions, such as terminals, shafts, solder lugs, etc., shall beprotected as required by incorporation of protective designs in the container orby suitable inserts, collars or sleeves fabricated from material sturdy enough toprotect the critical portion and not collapse or move out of position.
3.2.4 Place the item in a container, e.g., paperboard, fiberboard, wood, expendedpolystyrene, plastic, etc., with adequate cushioning provided by materials orcontainer design,e.g., molded or contoured/fitted fillers, etc.
3.3 Intermediate Packaging
3.3.1 Intermediate packaging shall be in accordance with applicable requirements ofNAS850.
3.4 Packing
3.4.1Exterior packing shall be in accordance with applicable requirements of NAS850.
3.5 Marking
3.5.1Unit, intermediate, and exterior containers shall be marked in accordance withapplicable requirements of NAS850.
