Notes:
1. Concentricity: ” 0 D and thread pitch diameter within “Y” value FIM. Recess to shank within .O16 FIM through .2500-28 thread size and within .O24 for thread sizes above .2500-28.

6. Bolts manufactured prior to 1 7 October, 2001, which (1) met the requirements for the recess torque values at the time of manufacture, and/or (2) were exempt from fatigue testing at the time of manufacture, may be used until stock is depleted.
7. All surfaces inside the Offset Cruciform Recess of Alloy Steel bolts shall be magnetic particle inspected per ASTM E1444. All surfaces inside the Offset Cruciform Recess of CRES bolts shall be penetrant inspected per ASTM E1417. Use ASQC Z1.4, single sampling plan, Inspection Level III, with a .O40 AQL. Any indication(s) shall be adjudicated in accordance with the applicable procurement specification req uirem en ts.
8. All surfaces inside the Offset Cruciform Recess of Titanium bolts shall be 1 00% penetrant inspected per ASTM E1417. Any indication(s) shall be adjudicated in accordance with the applicable procurement specification requirements. 32 RHR or finer. All other surfaces shall be no greater than 1 25 RHR.
10. Head Marking: Basic part number, applicable dash number,.manufacturer”c trade mark and the material code where applicable to indicate CRES or Titanium material. Characters raised or depressed .O10 maximum. Location on the head is optional. Thread size .1640-32 may be marked with a “2” (two), as applicable, plus dash characters and material code, if applicable. Oversize shank repair bolts shall be identified with an “X’ or “Y”, as applicable, in the second sector of the head. portion of the shank.

13. Bolts shall be free from burrs and sharp edges.
14. Drill cotter pin hole “0P” when specified by the part number. The cotter pin hole centerline shall be within 1.010 and perpendicular within 2″ of the bolt centerline. A countersink is optional.
15. The point end of the bolt shall be relatively flat and chamfered. The chamfer dimension plus the incomplete threads shall not exceed two (2) thread pitches.
16. All bolts, including NAS1982 (.1640-32) bolts, shall have the threads rolled and the head to shank fillet radius cold worked after heat treatment. Bolts from each manufacturing lot shall be fatigue tested in accordance with the applicable procurement specification to the fatigue loads as stated herein.
1 7. Subsequent to cadmium plating, 4 or more bolts from each manufacturing lot shall be installed in test equipment in accordance with AMs-QQ-P-41 6 except the tensile load shall be 80% of the bolt minimum tensile requirement and the load shall be maintained for a minimum of 72 hours. At the end of this time, if any cracks or failures have occurred, the entire lot of bolts shall be rejected. 18. All dimensions, where applicable, are in inches and apply to the finished product.
