INTERCHANGEABILITY: THE “DL” CODE FASTENERS (DRIVE NUT) AND “L” CODE FASTENERS (NO DRIVE NUT) ARE FUNCTIONALLY INTERCHANGEABLE. THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE IN INSTALLED CONDITION. “DL” PARTS USE EXISTING INSTALLATION TOOLING EXCEPT A NEW HEX NOSE ADAPTOR IS REQUIRED FOR THE -5DL SIZE. THE NOSE ADAPTOR CURRENTLY USED TO INSTALL NAS1669-4L AND NAS1671-4L HEX HEAD PARTS IS USED TO INSTALL-08DL, -3DL AND -4DL SIZES. THE -6DL SIZE IS INSTALLED WITH THE SAME NOSE ADAPTOR CURRENTLY USED TO INSTALL NAS1669-6L AND NAS1671-6L HEX HEAD FASTENERS. THE WRENCH ADAPTORS WHICH ENGAGE AND ROTATE THE SCREW DRIVING FLATS DURING INSTALLATION ARE THE SAME FOR “L” AND “DL” CODE FASTENERS. THE “DL” CONFIGURATION IS CONSIDERED THE PREFERRED FASTENER SYSTEM.
NAS1670-3L5 = GENERAL PURPOSE BLIND FASTENER, FLUSH HEAD WITH A SHANK DIAMETER OF .1980 AND GRIP OF .282 – .344, AND SELF-LOCKING FEATURE.
NAS1670-4DL6 = GENERAL PURPOSE BLIND FASTENER, FLUSH HEAD WITH A SHANK DIAMETER OF .2590 AND GRIP OF .345 – .406, DRIVE NUT FEATURE AND SELF-LOCKING FEATURE.
NOTES: (1) “G” IS THE MEAN DIMENSION TO THE NUT NOSE ANGLE INTERSECTION. THIS INTERSECTION LOCATION MAY VARY AROUND THE PERIPHERY DUE TO ECCENTRICITY.
(2) PARTS SHALL BE FREE OF ALL LOOSE OR HANGING BURRS.
(3) OUTSIDE DIAMETER OF HEAD OF SCREW AND OUTSIDE DIAMETER OF SLEEVE SHALL NOT BE GREATER THAN MAXIMUM “ØD”.
(4) CONCENTRICITY OF NUT HEAD CONICAL SURFACE TO “ØD” SHALL BE WITHIN .005 FIM, EXCEPT IN SELF-LOCKING AREA. /9/
(5) TEMPERATURE LIMITATION: 450º F MAX.

/8/ LOCKING FEATURE CONSISTS OF THREE (3) SPHERICAL INDENTATIONS LOCATED 120º APART ON THE PERIPHERY OF THE NUT COMPONENT AND APPROXIMATELY .040 ABOVE THE INTERSECTION OF THE NUT NOSE ANGLE AND O.D. (MEAN GRIP OF FASTENER).
