EN 940-2012 pdf download.Safety of woodworking machines – Combined woodworking machines.
ii) the non-normal position, with blocking, corresponds to the anti-clockwise direction of rotation when viewed from the operators place for surface planing:
iii) selection of the anti-clockwise direction of rotation shall only be possible after manual override of the blocking device;
lv) the direction of rotation selection device shall indicate the selected direction of rotation and be consistent with it; or
2) a three position selector, with a neutral position without a blocking device, such that only if the machine has been started in the anti-clockwise direction of rotation, as soon as it is switched off the manual control actuator of the direction of rotation selection device returns automatically to its neutral position; any further selection of the direction of rotation shall require voluntary operation of the selection device; or
3) a combination of manually operated push buttons such that:
I) the clockwise direction of rotation Is started by the start button of the cutterblock drive motor;
ii) the anti-clockwise direction of rotation is started by the start button of the cutterblock drive motor together with an Initiation control device (e.g. push button) which is also positioned so that for starting the cutterblock drive motor both hands are necessary.
Ei) The safety related part of the control circuits (also see 5.2.1) for the selection of the direction of rotation (if provided) shall be at least PL = b in accordance with the requirements of EN ISO 13849-1:2008. I
VeriIication: By checking the relevant drawings and/or circuit diagrams, inspection of the machine and relevant functional testing of the machine.
5.2.9 Failure of the power supply
On electrically driven machines an automatic restart shall be prevented after the restoration of the supply voltage in the case of a supply interruption in accordance with 7.5, paragraphs 1 and 3, of EN 60204-1:2006.
The automatic restart of any dangerous movement of the machine shall be prevented after restoration of the pneumatic or hydraulic energy (where fitted).
Verificaton: By checking the relevant drawings and/or circuit diagrams, inspection of the machine and relevant functional testing of the machine.
5.2.10 FaIlure of the control circuits
The requirements of Clause 6 of I EN 1037:1995+A1:2008 iI apply and in addition:
Verification: By checking the relevant drawings, inspection of the machine and relevant functional testing of the machine.
5.3.3 Tool holder and tool design
5.3.3.1 General
The requirements of 5.3.3 of E EN 848-1:2007+A2:2012 J, Ei EN 859:2007+A2:2012 €1J I EN 860:2007+A2:2012 J. EN 861:2007+A2:2012 J and of Ei prEN 1870-18:2011 J apply.
Verification: By checking the relevant drawings, Inspection of the machine and relevant functional testing of the machine.
5.3.3.2 Mortising
Loosening the chuck and/or the tool during start up. running, run-down or braking shall be prevented.
Verification: By checking the relevant drawings, inspection of the machine and relevant functional testing of
the machine.
5.3.3.3 Tenoning-sawing mode
On machines with the tenoning-sawing mode, the saw unit shall be capable of horizontal movement in the direction of the saw spindle axis and be provided with a device for maintaining the saw spindle in position.
Machines shall be provided with a means of positioning the table insert(s), so that any slot in the table for the saw blade and any gap to permit positioning of the table insert(s) shall not exceed 12 mm.
Verification: By checking the relevant drawings, measurement, inspection of the machine and relevant functional testing of the machine.
5.3.3.4 Elements not in use
On machines with a sawing unit and a moulding unit It shall be possible to lower without the aid of a tool the non-used unit/spindle to enable the other unit to be used without obstruction by either lowering the moulding spindle (without tool) or the sawing unit fitted with the largest saw blade and largest flying knife for which the machine is designed completely below the table (see also 5.3,7.2.1).
Provisions shall be made by providing a cover to close completely the opening in the table if the moulding tool spindle has to be removed or lowered for e.g. circular sawing operation.EN 940-2012 pdf download.
