1 .0 SCOPE: This standard provides a method for the multiple packaging of hoses or tubes, either preformed or straight.

3.0 REQUIREMENTS
3.1 General
3.1 .1 Requirements of NAS850 are a part of this except as noted herein.
3.1 .2 Dust caps/plugs shall be used on all hose/tube openings.
3.1 .2.1 Internal plugs shall extend a minimum of 1 /8″ beyond end of tube/hose.
3.1 .2.2 Caps/plugs shall not scratch or mark the hose/tube and shall provide protection to threaded surfaces.
3.1 .2.3 Plastic bags may be used in lieu of caps/plugs when the bags provide a comparable level of protection.
3.2 Unit Packaging
3.2.1 The quantity per unit package shall be as follows, unless otherwise specified by the procurement document:
Multiples of five (5) items.
3.2.2 Fiberboard pads, sleeves, cells or other cushioning media shall be used when damage to the item could be incurred in the multiple pack. The hoses/tubes shall be banded within the unit container when necessary to prevent damage caused by the relative movement between adjacent items. Banding may consist of “twisters”, protected tape, cord, or other nonabrasive materials.
3.2.3 Void filler shall be used as required to restrict movement within the containers.
3.2.4 Close the container by any method which allows opening and reclosing without damage to the container or contents.
3.3 Intermediate Packaging
3.3.1 Intermediate packaging shall be in accordance with applicable requirements of NAS850.
3.4 Packing
3.4.1 Exterior packing shall be in accordance with applicable requirements of NAS850.
3.5 Marking
3.5.1 The notation “Do Not Open Until Use or Inspection” shall be placed into or on the plastic bag when used in lieu of caps or plugs.
3.5.2 Unit, intermediate and exterior containers, shall be marked in accordance with applicable requirements of NAS850.
4.0 QUALITY ASSURANCE
4.1 Packages which do not conform to these requirements are subject to rejection and return to supplier at his expense.
