AIA/NAS 887-2012 pdf download THEODOLITES FOR OPTICAL TOOLING
THEODOLITES SHALL BE FABRICATED TO, OR HAVE ADJUSTMENT CAPABILITY TO ACHIEVE THE FOLLOWING ACCURACIES:
1 ) VERTICAL AND HORIZONTAL RETICLE CROSS HAIR PATTERNS TO BE PARALLEL TO THEIR RESPECTIVE MECHANICAL AXES SO THAT A SCOPE SWEEP ON A SINGLE POINT IS WITHIN TWO (2) ARC SECONDS AS VIEWED THROUGH THE SCOPE.
2) LINE OF SIGHT (L.O.S.) SHALL BE PERPENDICULAR TO THE HORIZONTAL AXIS TO WITHIN TWO (2) ARC SECONDS.
3) HORIZONTAL AXIS SHALL BE PERPENDICULAR TO THE VERTICAL AXIS TO WITHIN TWO (2) ARC SECONDS.
4) LINE OF SIGHT (L.O.S.) TO REMAIN IN A LEVEL PLANE THROUGHOUT 360° ROTATION ABOUT VERTICAL AXIS TO WITHIN TWO (2) ARC SECONDS.
5) LINE OF SIGHT (L.O.S.) TO REMAIN STRAIGHT FROM MINIMUM FOCUS TO 50 FT. RANGE WITHIN 0.002 INCHES AND FROM 50 FT. TO 1 00 FT. WITHIN 0.004 INCHES.
6) HORIZONTAL CIRCLE SHALL HAVE THE CAPABILITY OF BEING ROTATED 360° INDEPENDENTLY OF OTHER FEATURES.
7) THE ACCURACY OF THE VERTICAL AND HORIZONTAL CIRCLES AND ALL RELATED THEODOLITE COMPONENTS SHALL BE SUCH THAT WHEN A SAMPLING OF TEN (1 0) MEASUREMENTS (5 DIRECT AND 5 REVERSE) ARE MADE, THE RESULTING STANDARD DEVIATION DOES NOT EXCEED ONE (1 ) ARC SECOND.
