(a) Primary. This Standard covers the practice offunctional gages for checking the safe locking interchangeability of ball-lock punches, light duty metric.(b) Sccondary.To casily check radial alignment ofstandard and special punches that have a flat parallelor perpendicular to the ball seat.

goge body – A block with an aperture to receive thepart to be checkedball plunger – A part of the gage which has a ballwhich will locate in the detent in the part,therebypositioning it in the gage bodygage checkmasfer – A master for checking the ac-curacy of the gage and limiting thc wcar allowable 3 GAGE DIMENSIONS
Only certain dimensions on the gages must be heldto close tolerance to insure proper interchangeabilityof the parts being checked. Other dimensions neededfor the manufacture of the gages are optional withthe manufacturer.
